Here It Goes!

Hello Everyone!

This is my very first blog post ever! I love reading other people's blogs and have wanted to create my own for a very long time. I think that now is as good a time as any to finally start. I am very excited and hope that I can write about things that will interest anyone who wants to read them!

I'll start by introducing myself: I am a 25 year old female sonographer, working in the field of OB/GYN. This means that I get to scan babies (pregnant women), which is a lot of fun, but that's not all that my job entails. The field of ultrasound is truly fascinating and encompasses many different specialties within medicine. So obviously the main part of this blog is going to be writing about my field, interesting cases, and whatnot. But ultrasound is not going to be the only thing that I am going to write about.

One of my absolute favorite quotes by Albert Einstein is: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." I tend to constantly remind myself of this quote from time to time, because it's easy to forget that we do indeed live in truly miraculous world. We are surrounded by amazing things and it's so easy to get caught up in the mundane repetitive life that we ignore the extraordinary things around us. When you stop for a moment to actually think about it, every little thing is truly amazing: from how this Internet was created, how the television works, how cars operate, or how an ultrasound machine can view organs inside your body. I think that it's such a true tragedy that we are living in a world with amazing things and endless possibilities yet we get so accustomed to a routine life that we become numb to the miracles around us. We stop pondering and inquiring and learning.

I hope that this blog will help me remind myself of the amazing things around me and motivate me to keep pondering and learning as I share my experiences with you.

Thank you for reading and until next time.
